TOUR OVERVIEW

This is a 12 day safari, it will take you to Kibale forest national Park for chimpanzee tracking, Queen Elizabeth National Park for game drives and boat ride, transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for Gorilla tracking and Mabamba Swamp for birding.

Day 01: Arrival and transfer to your reserved hotel

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met by our representative who will transfer you to fairway hotel for an overnight stay on Bed and Breakfast

Day 02: Transfer to Kibale forest national Park

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Kibale Forest National park. Commonly referred to as the “Primates capital of the world”, this park is a home to man’s closest relatives the Chimpanzees and its the only place in Uganda where you have 98% guarantee of viewing the chimps in the wild, this park also boasts the highest concentration of primates than any other park in the world. You will stopover at Fort Portal town for lunch before proceeding to for dinner and an overnight stay at Primates Lodge Kibale.

After breakfast, your guide will lead you to Kanyanchu tourist center for briefing before proceeding for the chimpanzee habituation experience. There is a 98% chance of coming across these habituated chimpanzees.
During the chimpanzee habituation experience, you may also encounter over 13 species of primates including the rare L’Hoest, red Colobus monkey, blue monkey, black faced vervet monkeys, grey mangabey, and baboons. A network of shady forest trails provides much to delight botanists and butterfly lovers, while birders are in for a treat with about 335 species recorded including the endemic Prirogrine’s ground thrush. Later in the evening, you will return to Primates Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay (Full Board)

Day 04: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi Swamp walk

This day you will be transferred to Kanyanchu tourist center after your breakfast. After the briefing and orientation by the rangers on how the whole process will be conducted, you will then proceed into the forest for the chimpanzee tracking experience. During the chimpanzee tracking experience, you may also encounter other different primate species such as the L’Hoest, red Colobus monkey, blue monkey, black faced vervet monkeys, grey mangabey, baboons and many more. You may also encounter different bird species during the chimpanzee tracking experience.
Later in the afternoon, you will proceed to Tinka’s homestead for an African Lunch cuisine; thereafter proceed for a swamp walk at Bigodi wetlands. Here you may encounter different bird species as well as a variety of primate species such as the red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys and many more. Dinner and an overnight stay will be at Primates Lodge kibale

Day 05: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

This day you will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth National Park. We will enter the park via the Northern crater Area. This is truly the most breathtaking scenery in the park with beautiful lakes and rich grasslands which are set deep in the crater valley. Queen Elizabeth boasts one of the highest bio diversity ratings of any game park in the world, from the open Savannah to Rain forest, dense swamps and beautiful crater lakes to the vastness of Lake Edward. The park harbors almost 100 species that include Buffaloes, Hippos, Leopard, Lions, Spotted Hyena and the elusive giant forest hog. There are over 606 species of birds found here including the black-rumped buttonquail, the martial eagle, Verreaux’s eagle owl and African skimmer to mention but a few.
You will check in at Mweya Safari lodge (Luxury tents) for dinner and an overnight stay on full board basis

Day 06: Game drive and boat cruise

We shall set off for an early morning game drive to catch up with early risers and predators returning to their hideouts. This morning, you are likely to meet Elephants, grazing hippos, Lions, spotted hyenas, Bushbucks, Leopards, water bucks, stripped jackal and of course the several warthogs, Uganda kobs and many other animal species. You may also encounter different bird species during the game drives.

In the afternoon, you will go for a unique 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel that connects Lake Edward to Lake George. This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of Hippos, crocodiles and animals such as Elephants, Buffaloes may be seen drinking at the water's edge. This boat cruise sometimes is referred to as the launch cruise which offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching with over 550 resident species, and game viewing, ideal for the Uganda safari. Return for dinner and overnight at Mweya safari lodge Luxury tent (Full Board)

Day 07: Transfer to Ishasha, Queen Elizabeth National Park

This day you will be transferred to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National park. This woodland Ishasha sector is located in the southern ends of Queen Elizabeth National park and is well known for the tree climbing lions. Upon arrival, you will check in at Ishasha wilderness Camp for lunch and an afternoon relaxation. Later in the evening, you will have a sunset game drive in the park in search for these tree climbing lions, thereafter return for dinner and an overnight stay at Ishasha Wilderness Camp (Full Board)

Day 08: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Day 08: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

This day you will be transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This park is a home to over half of the world’s remaining population of the rare mountain Gorillas, and offers visitors an excellent Gorilla tracking experience. Upon arrival into the park, you will check in at Mahogany springs Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay (Full Board basis)

After breakfast and well equipped with your packed lunch, you will be accompanied by your guide to the park headquarters for the briefing at 8:00am. You will then be separated into groups depending on the Gorilla family you have been allocated to track. You will then proceed in to the forest and start your Gorilla tracking experience following the trails in the forest. During the gorilla tracking experience, you may also encounter other different primate species as well as a variety of bird species.

Once the Gorillas have been tracked, you will be given one hour to interact, take pictures and videos of these giant and gentle Gorillas. This is truly a rewarding experience you will live to remember. After tracking the Gorillas, you will return for dinner and an overnight stay at mahogany Springs Lodge (Full Board basis)

This day you will have a second gorilla tracking experience in Bwindi. After breakfast and well equipped with your packed lunch, your guide will transfer you to the park headquarters for briefing and orientation. You will then be allocated another Gorilla family to track. Your rangers will then lead you into the forest for the Gorilla tracking experience. You may also encounter other primate species during the tracking experience.
Once the Gorillas have been tracked, you will be given an hour to interact, take pictures and videos of these Gorillas.
Later in the evening if time permits, you may have a community walk for a cultural experience with the Indigenous Batwa communities who live in the Bwindi forests. You will return for dinner and an overnight stay at Mahogany springs Lodge (Full Board)

Day 11: Transfer to Entebbe

After your breakfast, you will be transferred to Kihihi airstrip for a flight to Entebbe International airport. Our tour representative will receive you at the airport, thereafter be transferred to Boma Hotel Entebbe for an overnight stay (Bed and Breakfast)

Day 12: Mabamba Swamp Walk and transfer to the airport.

This day you will be transferred to Mabamba wetlands for a swamp walk and birding. This wetland is well known as a home to the rare shoebill stork as well as other different bird species. You will have a canoe ride in the swamp as you get closer to different bird species in the wetland.
Later in the afternoon, you will return to Boma Hotel for lunch and preparations. In the evening, you will have a farewell dinner before being transferred to the airport for your international flight.
