Kibale Forest National Park

Kibale national park protects moist evergreen rain forests, with last remaining regions to contain both lowlands and montane forest situated in western Uganda on 795 square kilometers. It forms a continuous forest with Queen Elizabeth national park. A home of Chimpanzees but also keeps high concentration primates like the red colombus monkey and the rare L’Hoest’s monkey. Kibale stands 1590 meters above sea level making it highest at the park’s northern tip. Northern Kibale is also the wettest area covered in swamps and receiving a mean annual rainfall of up to 1700mm during March – May and September to November
