Is it easy to trek or acclimate chimpanzees in Uganda?

Uganda is the leading private destination in the whole of Africa, with the country’s having more than 15 species of primates, which can be found in different regions of the country. In Uganda, Kibale forest national park is regarded as the world’s primate capital with several primates in the form of chimpanzees, baboons, and monkeys.

Visitors usually flock to this wonderful forest to see the world’s primate capital, Kibale Forest National Park. Chimpanzees are also another prominent feature that you don’t need to skip, other than the presence of the endangered mountain gorillas.

Uganda is known for its chimpanzee and gorilla trekking safaris. Within Uganda, chimpanzee trekking is popular in Kibale Forest national park, and this is a very interesting activity that visitors do like. It is a thrilling activity, but so much more challenging, especially for first-time visitors. Kibale forest is dense, but there are good trails that allow visitors to get deep into the forest and enjoy this fantastic safari experience.

Most of the visitors always ask themselves questions and they are always interested in knowing whether the chimpanzee trekking is hard or difficult to do for them as visitors. All we can say is that in Uganda, chimpanzee trekking has been going on smoothly and the visitors have shown higher chances of success when it comes to chimpanzee trekking.

Visitors for chimp trekking will need to start early in the morning at around 8 a.m. and end around 2 p.m., which means that trekkers will need to be extra prepared in order to have a successful chimp trekking in Uganda, particularly in Kibale Forest National Park.

The chimpanzee walk in Uganda provides visitors with the opportunity to see the wonderful chimpanzees in their natural habitat. In Kibale Forest National Park, the habituated chimpanzee is found at Kanyanchu; they are brave even when they see human beings, so there are higher chances of seeing these chimpanzees whenever you travel to Kibale Forest National Park.

Visitors will need to walk up early in the morning and drive to the Kanyanchu information center to be briefed by the UWA ranger guide before they begin the gorilla trekking activity. Once you get early to the center, you will be clearly registered and then be told the do’s and don’ts when trekking the chimpanzees.

Once you’re in the middle of the jungle and see the chimpanzees for one hour, you will be able to see the chimpanzees for only one hour. Remember that the visitors only allowed for chimpanzee trekking in Uganda are supposed to be aged twelve years and above.

We can say that trekking chimpanzees is an easy and interesting experience, but very challenging, and therefore, you need extra preparation since you will have to walk for long distances in the forest and you might get tired on the way. That’s why it is possible that you do some exercises and prepare adequately for their great experience.

Other than the chimpanzee trekking, visitors can still engage in the chimpanzee habituation experience. In this, you will trek with the researchers as well as the rangers as you head into the forest to look for the endangered mountain gorillas. Typically, the chimps brought here are less effective and have not yet become accustomed to humans, but they must be trained to become accustomed to humans.

Therefore, the process and experience in which the visitors also take part in the chimpanzee training so that they can get used to the human beings is called the chimpanzee habituation experience.

You will need to wake up early in the morning so that you can see the chimpanzees leaving their nests and follow them around as they learn their eating, hunting, copulation, and breast feeding habits until it is time for them to have the clear experience of the chimpanzees getting back into their nests.
