This is the best safari destination that will help you explore the beautiful wildlife of Rwanda in just a short period of time. This 2-day Rwanda wildlife safari will take you to Akagera national park in eastern Rwanda, at the border with Tanzania, where you will be able to enjoy the wildlife sighting drives while wandering in the savannah grassland. Akagera is the only national park in Rwanda where game drives are permitted and features the big five animals such as rhinos, lions, buffaloes, elephants, and leopards. Other animals that can also be seen in the Akagera include giraffes and bushbucks. These have made the park the most beautiful one for the wild animal species and attracted visitors to come for game drives.
After the early morning breakfast at your hotel in Kigali, you will be packed by one of our experienced guides in a branded vehicle, and then you will drive for about 3 hours to Akagera national park, with an interesting stopover on the way to feel the Rwanda landscape as you get an explanation of your confusing questions from our safari guide. You will later arrive at the park and check into your lodge and later go for a short game drive in the park before you return to the lodge for launch. After lunch, you just have a short break and will be called on for the afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema, where you will be able to see hippos, buffaloes, elephants, and other aquatic animals coming and flowing along the water banks. Later, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. Lodge options include the Akagera game safari lodge, Ruzizi tented camp, among others.
You will have breakfast early in the morning at around 6 and leave for the game drive safari in the park, where you will be able to encounter several animals that include both grazers and predators. Have an eye-to-eye encounter with the buffaloes, the giraffes, the elephants, the leopards, lions, hippos, bushbucks, among others. Birds in Akagera are diverse. It is believed that more than 500 species of birds have been reported in Akagera National Park and you will be able to encounter these species. This game drive will last for about six hours, and after you move out of the park and drive back to Kigali, this marks the end of our 2-day Rwanda wildlife safari.
