Our 5-Day Nyungwe Forest National Park Safari will take you to one of the best and highly rated primate national parks in Rwanda, whereby you will be able to see a lot of tourist attractions as you are energetic in various activities surrounding the Nyungwe National Park. Nyungwe is surrounded by stunning attractions in the form of the plantation and the famous Lake Kivu. You will be able to engage in chimpanzee tracking as well as forest canopy walks as you explore the ethnographical museum that is only found in the southern part of Rwanda.
Once you have arrived at Kigali international airport, you will be picked up by the safari guide, who will welcome you and drive you to your hotel in Kigali for a short dinner and an overnight stay. All meals will be served at the Lando Hotel, Serena Hotel Kigali, or Quite Haven hotel.
After having breakfast, you will be picked up from Nyungwe Forest by our safari guide in the morning. You will be driven towards the Western Park of the country, in the western province. You will have a stopover at the royal palace and the ethnographic museum on your way and have a guided tour around this museum as you are given history about how they came into existence. After that, you will have en-route lunch here and continue to Nyungwe Forest National Park, where you will have the canopy walk and long forest on top before you drive to your booked lodge. The logging options here include the Emeraudel Hotel and Nyungwe Top View Hill.
Wake up in the early morning, have a healthy breakfast, and be driven to Nyungwe park headquarters to receive instructions about the Chimpanzee trekking in the forest, which will be given to you by the ranger guide. After the briefing, you will start the journey to encounter the chimpanzees. Nyungwe Forest National Park features more than 10 species of primate, and chimpanzees are the major primate found in Nyungwe Forest National Park. Once you have finished the chimpanzee trekking activity, you will go for the afternoon canopy walk. This 70-meter suspended metallic scaffold will provide you with an incredible outline of Nyungwe forest and, on a good day, if you’re lucky, you will see and witness a lot of primates jumping all over the tree. You will see them from above. After this, you will return to your booked lodge, staying at either Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel or Emeraude Kivu Resort, where you will have supper, lunch, and breakfast.
Today, after having your early morning breakfast, you will still go to Nyungwe National Park headquarters to get tips on how to track the colobus monkeys, and later you will walk to the forest with the head guide leading you for this great experience. You will see the colobus monkeys and take all the photos that you want. The good thing here is that there is no time limit and after you return to the lodge, have lunch, and after some relaxation, you will go for the tea plantation visits where you will learn the ways in which the tea is planted and harvested. Later, you will return to your booked lodge, staying at either Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel or Emeraude Kivu Resort, where you will have dinner, lunch, and breakfast.
In the morning, after having breakfast, you will travel to Lake Kivu to see the beautiful sunrise over the lake. You will enjoy a boat ride to explore the fantastic attractions that this magnificent lake has to offer. You go for a nature walk on one of the islands in this lake, which is notorious for attracting a large number of bats. This lake is also known as the home of several species of birds because it has a variety of bird species such as the comrade, pied kingfishers, weaver birds, and heron, to name a few. You will subsequently return to Kigali and drive there, where you will then proceed to the airport to catch your departure.
