The Congo Nile trail is comparable to visitors trekking gorillas in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. Tourism in Congo has been and is the major tourist attraction in Rwanda, and most of the visitors come to Rwanda to experience the Gorilla trekking activity in Volcanoes National Park.
Recent, the government of Rwanda has established and launched the Congo Nile Trail, which was established in 2011, and all these efforts were made to make Rwanda the best tourism destination in the whole of Africa. For those who are unfamiliar with the Congo Nile Trail, it is a 22-kilometer trail that traverses Lake Kivu, beginning in the northern part of Gisenyi and ending on the shores of the Risozi district. The name, you might think that the trail passes through Congo, but this is not the case, and it doesn’t even pass anywhere near the River Nile.
This trail is considered the best hiking trail in the whole of the African continent. For the visitors who are interested in hiking and passing through Rwanda’s beautiful scenery, you should make sure that you take this pass, which is so much fun.
This wonderful path travels through breathtaking scenery, including Nyungwe Forest National Park, Rwanda’s famed rolling hills, Lake Kivu’s clean waters and beaches, and distant views of the Democratic Republic of Congo. You can watch how the natives go about their everyday lives on their coffee, banana, and tea farms, in addition to the surroundings.
You’ll also drive through tiny towns, stores, valleys, waterfalls, little local markets, and fishing villages, where smiling youngsters and interested elders will greet you with warm greetings. You may also pay a visit to the Mugonero orphanage to be delighted with Rwandan dances. Near the route is the Kiziba refugee colony, which houses roughly seventeen thousand Congolese refugees. Going to the very top of the Congo Nile is the pinnacle of it all.
The Rwandan government has made great improvements to make sure that Rwanda becomes the best and top tourist destination in the whole of Africa. Rwanda’s tourist sector has benefited from the government’s efforts to establish Rwanda as a mainstream destination. There’s little doubt that introducing and establishing the Congo Nile was a wise idea.
Unfortunately, in 2014, the latter portion of the old Congo Nile Trail became a paved road to link Kabuye and Kamambe, and this benefited the locals who do reside in these areas (and it won’t affect anyone who intends to stop at Kabuye and get a boat back to the start), and it will undoubtedly be welcomed by tarmac-loving cyclists. We intended to go the entire length of Lake Kivu to the port of Kamambe, where we could either take a boat back to Gisenyi or take a bus to Kigali city.
The path may be completed in four ways: by automobile, motorcycle, bike, or walking. Each approach has its own set of benefits. Although walking and biking are exhausting, they are the most efficient ways to complete the course. The two approaches allow visitors to take in the lovely landscape along the trail while also allowing them to interact more with the locals. They are good forms of exercise and, unlike driving or riding a motorcycle, they can readily be joined by other travelers.
The Congo Nile Trail may be completed in 10 days by walking and 5 days by bicycle. If time is limited, visitors may be able to finish the path in stages. Pay attention to the wet months (March–May and October–November). Due to recent rainfall, certain portions of the track have become muddy and difficult to navigate.
After boarding the bus, it takes around 3 hours to go from Kigali to Gisenyi’s starting location. If you’re riding your own bike, you’ll have to haggle with the bus conductor to get more room or seats for you and your bike.
Alternatively, a tour operator can arrange for a tour van to transport you to Gisenyi’s starting point and then return to pick you up when you’ve finished the path. It takes significantly longer to return to Kigali from the finishing point. If you stop at Kamembe, it will take you around 5 hours to return to Kigali.
Please come and enjoy this wonderful trail, which is so interesting contact us for details
